It is a testing machine that evaluates the degree to which the thread protrudes and causes pulling due to the hooking action.

It is a snag tester from ADL ATLAS.

Quickly evaluates the extent to which the fibers of regular clothing snag (a state where looped threads are pulled from the fiber surface) due to snagging. The test specimen is placed in a viewing cabinet and evaluated by comparing it with standard photographs. The testing machine consists of four rotating test cylinders set up for sleeve-type fabric and a mace ball with tungsten carbide points, operated by an electronic counter.
